1990
1990 Protima Bedi establishes her own village, called Nrityagram, for dancers who want to study the seven classical Indian dance forms, especially the Odissi dance, and two martial arts dances.
The village is built on 10 acres of land, 30 km from Bangalore, leased/gifted to Protima by the Karnataka state government, then headed by Ramakrishna Hegde. The students live on campus, in the traditional Indian gurukul system. Boarding is free. The training to be a dancer can take up to eight years.
The Odissi dance dates back to the 2nd century B.C. and was performed originally in temples as a sacred ritual dedicated to the gods.
The sensuous dance movements reflect the sculptural motifs of the temples of Orissa.
1990 Kabir Bedi plays Othello to his 23-year-old leading lady Nikki Vijayakar Moolgaoker's Desdemona in Alyque Padamsee's production of the Shakespeare play. They fall in love off-screen as well as on-screen.
1991
Spring 1991 Kabir Bedi's Sohn Siddharth Bedi is a sophomore at the School of Computer Science, Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA.
He wins an Academic Excellence Student Award and Scholarship as one of only six students.
1992
Mid 1992 Kabir Bedi's son Siddharth moves from Pittsburgh, PA, to North Carolina, where he now attends the University of North Carolina.
His mother Protima Bedi writes later that Siddharth had had four relationships while he attended the university in Pittsburgh.
In this year of presidential elections in the US, Siddharth Bedi liked the Democratic candidate Bill Clinton, according to Protima: "If [Siddharth] had to cast in his lot, it would be for Clinton. He admits to having smoked marijuana, he appears on TV playing the saxophone, and has also admitted to cheating on his wife. Finally an honest candidate!"
1993
1993 At 47, Kabir Bedi marries for the 3rd time: Nikki Viyaikar Moolgaoker (born September 9, 1966, Aylesbury, Britain, divorced from food stylist Sunil Vijayakar).
His ex-wife Protima Bedi, now a world-famous Odissi dancer with a residential dance school, stays close to him and takes part in the marriage celebrations.
1993 A television company from Delhi produces a documentary on Protima Bedi's dance village, Nrityagram, in which other members of the Bedi clan are mentioned, of course.
1994
May 6, 1994 Kabir Bedi's daughter Pooja marries Farhan Ebrahim 'Furniturewalla'. Pooja has to convert to Islam for the marriage. The Bedi clan attends the wedding.
Summer 1994 Kabir Bedi's son Siddharth is in Bangalore to stay with his mother Protima Bedi for a while, on holiday from his studies in the US.
