- In celebration of the popular
SANDOKAN tales writer, there's a street in
Verona called "Salgari Alley".
- Some action scenes of Kabir's
TV movie IL FIGLIO DI SANDOKAN (1999) were
filmed at Richmond Castle in Kalutara on Sri Lanka.
- Carole André and Philippe
Leroy-Beaulieu of SANDOKAN fame appeared also
together in the 1973 movie MORDI E FUGGI.
- The SANDOKAN
1976 TV series was made into a (less successful) 2-part movie,
released in Italy in 1977.
- Italian director Sergio Sollima
(SANDOKAN 1976 and LA TIGRE E ANCORA
VIVA: SANDOKAN ALLA RISCOSSA 1977) worked with Philippe
Leroy again in a 1994 movie called BERLIN '39.
- Kabir's co-star Vittoria Belvedere
in IL RITORNO DI SANDOKAN (1996) was born in
Calabria, on January 17, 1972.
She starred already in more than 20 movies.
Vittoria married in 1999 and in 2000 her son Lorenzo was born.
- There's a much-loved SANDOKAN
children's cartoon TV series, produced 1998 in Italy/France.
- Philippe Leroy, Kabir's co-star
in several SANDOKAN movies, also appeared in
Kabir's NOI SIAMO ANGELI (1996) and in Kabir's
LIE DOWN WITH LIONS (1994).
- Kabir told a German journalist
in 1979 that he would like very much to participate in a Western
movie - the baddie or the hero - it wouldn't matter to him!
It's not known if Kabir still is interested in such a part...
Of course, as SANDOKAN (1976), he's used to
riding into the sunset - I don't mind - as long as he returns!!!

Tayde played the dark-eyed beauty "Dora" in the TV
mini-series IL RITORNO DI SANDOKAN (1996).
She was born in Frankfurt, Germany - on April 27, 1975.
She has an Indian father and a German mother.
Mandala has built a successful movie and television career in
Italy.
She is often to be seen in TV productions of the Italian RAI
TV.
Recently Mandala Tayde played the part of Sister Désirée
in the Clinica Santa Lucia in the German TV series
"Klinik unter Palmen".
- Kabir's co-star Carole André
visited Torino in February 1976 - at the same time when Kabir
was there, too - only days after the blockbuster success of
SANDOKAN (1976) on Italian television.
- Filming on location for IL
RITORNO DI SANDOKAN (1996) was scheduled for 16 weeks
in Mysore in the district of Karnataka in Southern India.
Often adventure movies of the "sandal-film" genre
are filmed in Mysore.
- The letter "G" in
the name of Kabir's IL RITORNO DI SANDOKAN
(1996) director Enzo G. Castellari stands for "Girolami".
