| EXCLUSIVE Kabir Bedi will appear in a May 16 charity performance of his romantic musical, The Far Pavilions, for Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, hot on the heels of their April 9 wedding. Kabir Bedi, a longstanding admirer of the heir to the British throne, says he is looking forward to the occasion and to meeting the royal couple after the performance. "I've met him before at the time of Octopussy," the 1983 James Bond action spectacular in which Kabir Bedi played Gobinda, whose unsuccessful efforts to eject Her Majesty's most famous secret servant from an aircraft made cinema history. This time round, Kabir's character Koda Dad Khan Sahib isn't quite as hostile to the British Empire. Since shooting the movie, Kabir Bedi has had several more encounters with Prince Charles at various charity events, and with his late wife Diana, Princess of Wales. Meeting the duchess, formerly known as Camilla Parker-Bowles, will be a first for Kabir, however. Kabir told kabir-bedi.com he is especially fond of the prince, whose many charity activities include heading the Prince's Trust which seeks to give disadvantaged youngsters a good start in life. "I do admire him, I do like him, so (I'm) happy that he's coming to the show as well," Kabir said. "The 16th is a Monday, when we normally don't perform, so actually we'll be having a special performance that day and we'll be given the day off before." |
