 KABIR BEDI RETURNS TO THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL (SCENE FROM EPISODE 4543) |
| Shortly before going on stage in the London musical THE FAR PAVILIONS, Kabir Bedi went on a top-secret mission to Los Angeles to shoot two episodes of THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL, the US soap in which he starred as tall, dark stranger Prince Omar Rashid in the mid-1990s, www.kabir-bedi.com can reveal. Episodes 4543 and 4544, to be shown May 2 and May 3, 2005, will see Kabir return to the serial for the first time in over 10 years to be a part of the spectacular screen resurrection of his beloved Taylor (Hunter Tylo). Taylor is the wife of Ridge Forrester, who for years has believed she is dead and buried, and has since remarried. But haunted by a vision of Taylor come back from the dead, Ridge decides to dig up her grave, and sure enough, Taylor's body isn't there! Kabir's Prince Omar then turns up at the graveside to be confronted by Ridge. Omar explains he has kept Taylor imprisoned (according to some rumours, he has snatched her comatose "body" from its coffin shortly before burial - no, don't ask!), and finally the female Lazarus also enters the scene - soap opera high jinx all round! The episodes were shot in very tight secrecy, with Hunter Tylo reportedly bundled into the studio through a tunnel and wearing disguise. "This was supposed to be a huge secret, actually," Kabir said. He said he flew to Los Angeles shortly before the March 24 start of THE FAR PAVILIONS, shot the two episodes, and returned to London. "They wanted it to be a huge surprise because it involves bringing back somebody from the dead etcetera, one of those soap opera gimmicks." But despite the cloak-and-dagger security, news of the soap shocker had already trickled out on various THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL discussion sites, and even a picture of "Two Wives" Ridge grabbing Omar by his lapels was leaked by the American men in dark glasses. "Really??? A picture???" Kabir said. "Where did that appear? Right, errm... they went into great lengths to prevent any pictures being taken. They took some standard pictures but I don't know how that got out." According to unconfirmed rumours, Kabir's Prince Omar is heading for a second confrontation with Massimo, another forceful character. Kabir and Tylo shot numerous episodes for THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL in the 1990s, including one which involved the svelte actress bellydancing to Kabir while clutching a live viper.
