PEOPLE |
• Kabir
would have faced the camera
for the first time together with his son Adam
Bedi for this film.
• However, Adam Bedi now
stars alongside
his father Kabir in the thriller HELLO...KAUN
HAI.
•
Adam Bedi is Kabir's son
by American designer/aromatherapist Susan Humphreys. Adam
was three when Kabir and
Susan separated.
• Born in Los Angeles and having grown up in
the US, Adam
Bedi speaks
with a strong American accent.
• Adam Bedi graduated in the
Performing Arts from Queen Mary's College in London. • At the age of ten, Adam
Bedi picked up snow boarding. In
his childhood days started his great passion for sports,
in particular for adventure sports. He says: "I
am very passionate about adventure sports and hope
to introduce many adventure sports in India. Talks
are on with various corporate companies. In fact, there
was a time when I wanted to be a stuntman."
• For many years, Adam Bedi played
the sport Paint Ball professionally.
• Other adventure sports which Adam
Bedi likes to do: White-Water Rafting, Skate
Boarding, Bungee Jumping, Sky Diving and - Roller
Coaster Riding... •
Adam Bedi got his Masters'
license in scuba diving in Goa and teached
the sport for several years. •
Adam Bedi wanted to become
a fighter pilot and had already decided to join the
US army when in 2001 a visit to India to come and see
his dad
Kabir changed
his life.
• Like his father Kabir, Adam
Bedi was an international model before he
turned to acting. Adam modelled for many brands: Lawman
Jeans (brand ambassador), Dr. Morepen (health products)
and Kinetic GF (for both also in TV commercials), Toyota
Qualis, M Square (shirts), Roopmilan (fashion), Monte
Carlo (fashion) and Roopam (fashion, also catalogue
model).
• Fashion features and ads with Adam
Bedi have been published in Men's Vogue,
Cosmopolitan, Society and Hi! Blitz, among others.
Adam has also modelled for the fashion shows of well-known
Indian designers. •
Adam Bedi is the boyfriend
of very popular singer/actress/dancer Nisha
Harale.
• Adam Bedi spotted Nisha
Harale on February 12, 2002 in a Mumbai disco
on the dance floor. Two days later, on Valentine's
Day they had their first date
- and have been together since.
• After four months of courtship, Adam asked Nisha to
move into his one-room rented apartment in Versova.
The modern concept of living together is often rejected
by conservative minded people of Indian society. And
there was also Adam's famous father, Kabir
Bedi, for Nisha's family to consider
- after all, he is known for his many relationships...
Adam says in April 2004: "My dad looks at the
whole thing very humorously. When all this was going
on,
he would
smile
and say: 'I don't think my reputation helps much". • Adam Bedi has not formally
trained as an actor.
• In the thriller Charas (Opium,
2004), Adam Bedi plays a young British
botany student who disappears in the Himalayan Charas
valley. Noted character actor Irfan Khan plays the
lead in Tigmanshu Dhulia's movie. Adam took his father Kabir to
a private screening of Charas - after having slept
over it, Kabir had
some positive criticism but found Adam's movie "quite
entertaining". Charas is Adam's first released
movie, making it his official screen debut although
it was filmed later than other movies Adam has worked
on. •
Adam Bedi filmed in August
2003 at the world-famous Hindu festival, the Kumbh
Mela, in Nashik, Western India. Adam is
the leading man in Sanjay Jha's crossover film Strings
which was
30-day
start-to-finish small budget project. According to
his father Kabir, Strings is about a British boy
(Adam Bedi) who travels to the Kumbh Mela and falls
in love with the daughter
of
an Indian
priest. The film tells the story of six characters
who relate to the same situation with different perspectives.
Filming of the 90 minutes movie took place among millions
of
devotees
and Hindu
Holy
men. The
team even got permission to film scenes inside the
temple and amidst the crowds. Strings is now in post-production
(as of June
2004). Director Jha plans to promote
the movie outside of India, too, at international film
festivals.
• Adam Bedi has a lead role
in Wonderful Moments, directed by Rajesh
Sheth. Wonderful
Moments was made in English, and dubbed into Spanish,
French and Italian to reach a bigger (Western) audience.
Adam's girlfriend, the multi-talented and very popular
model/singer/dancer Nisha Harale is one of his co-stars
in Wonderful Moments,
her big-screen debut. According to
Adam, "an actor should react
instinctively to scenes. Besides, there's always dad
(Kabir Bedi)
to guide me."
Adam explains about his role in Wonderful
Moments: "My parents showered
love on me, but I never knew what an Indian home is like. [Wonderful Moments]
is letting me in an Indian home for the first time" (July 2003 interview).
• According to a July 2003 interview, Adam Bedi also
signed
up
for
Vivek
Agnihotri's True Story (to be filmed in English language and based on the Hollywood
drugs thrillers Traffic (2000), starring Michael
Douglas, and Blow (2001), with Johnny Depp) -
but
- "I
don't
speak
much
Hindi
so
I
can't
join
mainstream films yet. I go by my instincts when I sign films."
• In a
February 2003 interview
with the magazine
Hi!
Blitz, 'Adam and his Eve',
Adam Bedi talks, among other things, about his father Kabir: "He is my dad eventually, so I gotta be proud of him.
But more than being a dad, he is a great friend. As for his many women... you
have got to admire a man who has accomplished so much in life, be it professionally...
or
personally!"
• In an interview with G Magazine about his film
Wonderful Moments, Adam Bedi says
in August 2003: "I am getting offers from other
filmmakers too but I want to learn Hindi fluently first
so that I can dub for myself." He also talks about
the influence of his
father Kabir: "I would like to gain the experience and confidence
to be an actor of my dad’s calibre. He never restricted himself doing only
Hindi movies. I would like to take Indian talent outside for the world to see
and eventually land up in Hollywood one day for sure." He adds: "I
started from scratch and struggled like any newcomer. Dad (Kabir
Bedi) taught me the real way to succeed in life by making me
do all the ground work. He could have helped me and I would have got work merely
by mentioning his name. But it was the other way around. I used to travel by
bus or cab and knock various agencies’ doors with my portfolio. Finally
I got my break and modelled for Roopam and did an ad film for Dr. Morepen."
• Mukesh Rishi appeared
1999 with Kabir
in the thriller KOHRAM.THE
EXPLOSION.

• Nirmal Pandey has quite an unusual
record on his name: the popular stage and movie actor is the
only man ever to receive a Best Actress award in the film industry.
He received the award in 1997 at the Valenciennes Film Festival,
France, for his most convincing portrayal of a transvestite
in Amol Palekar's movie Daayraa.
However, Pandey had to share his award with Sonali Kulkarni,
the female lead.
• Amit Hingorani appeared together with Sharbani
Mukherji in his screen debut Kaise Kahoon Ke Pyaar
Hai (2003), also starring Sunny Deol.

Krishna cult, he was renamed as Damodar Das. He has pledged
