Sandokan has been standing on a railing 200 metres above the ground, and he's
been there for two hours, waiting for his beloved Verdeluna. She's better connect
quickly, or else...
SANDOKAAAANNN!!! Don't do it!!!!!!!!
But I'll have to, Verdeluna, I'll have to...
Sandokan has lost a bet with Yanez, and he'll have to make his debut at bungee
jumping from the Mompracem lighthouse!
And if anything were to go wrong, would he at least just plunge into the sea?
No, he'd land on some cliffs so sharp that he'd look like barbecued fish...
And just what was that bet about anyway? That Yanez wouldn't dare disturb the
Oracle of the Jungle by bringing him a cup of exquisite coffee while he was watching
his favourite TV show, Desperate Housewives. So Yanez climbed up Mompracem's
tallest palm tree, cup of coffee in hand, and waited... The Oracle took the coffee,
without once taking his eyes off the TV screen, and drank it. Yanez literally
flew down from the tree, breaking his collarbone, but winning the bet anyway.
And Sandokan insisted that he wanted to talk with Verdeluna at least one last
time before making his own jump...
And so now it's time for the final countdown... ten... nine... eight... I LOVE
YOU SANDOKAN!!! five.. four.. Here I cooooooooooome!!!
- "Come fly with me, come fly with me, let's fly, let's fly away. If you
can use some exotic booze there's a bar in far Bombay..."
Then silence. SANDOKAN!!! Are you still alive???
Here I am Verdeluna, all'assalto!!!
Ohh Verdeluna, it was the most incredible experience...
It's as if my body had become pure weight, and the forces of gravity were reclaiming
what was properly theirs. And then the elastic brings you back to reality. But
those five seconds, those five seconds...
Verdeluna has some news too.
This evening, she was folding the laundry with her son Valerio on the terrace
and... he told her he wants to open his own restaurant, right there, in the Italian
town where he grew up... Verdeluna is absolutely thrilled by the idea.
And there's a confession to be made as well!
Remember that night when I went to the cinema with Tarzan, the sculptor who turns
cars into dinosaurs? Well afterwards, we..
YOU KISSED!!!
And then?
I invited him upstairs and then...

There's more reading for Sandokan tonight, as he dives into the ancient wisdoms
of Zen. Verdeluna would like to know more, but maybe she is already an advanced
practitioner, and has achieved illumination by the sheer act of being patient
with the Pirate. Consider the Zen student Akira. One day, on his way to the market,
he overheard a conversation between a butcher and a customer. "Give me the
best piece of meat that you have," said the customer. "You won't find
any better meat than I have," said the butcher. And, whoosh, Akira reached
illumination.
Hmm, says Verdeluna, that's what Italian butchers say all the time. Well, so
why aren't you all illuminated?
Sandokan, enough already.
You're too, too, too, ZEN!!!
I don't want to chat with
you any more.
But Verdeluna, every split second of time that we spend together is unique, irreplaceable.
Ohh Sandokan... I love you....
Verdeluna has finally moved into her Dutch Windmill, and she is over the moon
with the old building. All her furniture fits exactly, and even the kitchen can
simply be reinstalled. Sandokan, however, knows how hard these things can be.
A friend of his bought a shower cabin, and it nearly gave him a nervous breakdown.
It had to be reordered four times because it wouldn't fit, and every time the
new shower took two months to arrive.
In the windmill's bathroom, there's even an antique tub with feet in the form
of lion's paws. Or were they tiger's paws? And Verdeluna spent all evening looking
out of the window at the port and the sea beyond, straining her eyes, and hoping
to see a gallion with a pirate's flag sailing her way...
Oh, that flag will come your way! All we have to do is wait for our magic number...

Just think about the first night we'll have together!
L'amour, l'amour, l'amour...
Speaking of which, you know what's happened? Hold tight! Angela Torre and the
General are getting married! In Paris, as soon as the paperwork is done! She
wants to have a big ceremony in St. Germain-des-Pres, to be followed by a huge
party!
And to celebrate the engagement, Angela invited everyone to the race track, where
she gave them some pretty solid betting tips and everyone won generously.
What a Sunday!

Sandokan has been catching up on his professional reading - the life of the
Dragon Lady, a 19th century pirate who operated off the coast of Canton, China.
She commanded a fleet of 800 armed junks and 70,000 men and women, a truly legendary
figure. Verdeluna, meanwhile, is baking endless amounts of sweets, but we won't
be told until a little later...
Could it be her birthday? No.
The birthday of any of her children? No.
The Twit's? Ha, ha, very funny.
Roberto's birthday? Noooooooooooooooo!!!!
The Dutch Windmill is finally hers!
All'assalto!!!
The General has paid up, and the deal's been done.
And afterward, the General went to salute Verdeluna's father, who saved his life,
at the cemetery.
A miracle!!!
Life itself is the biggest miracle, says Sandokan.
And so Verdeluna has been baking her sweets, for Roberto, Patrizia, the General,
and Angela, the previous owner of the windmill, and... maybe... Sandokan, who
really wants to eat the whole lot, one at the time, hand-fed by his beloved Verdeluna!

Forgive me Verdeluna, light of my eyes, that I am late yet again. But I have
a decent excuse: Puliti Dentro, Yanez' coin-op laundry, is completely and utterly
flooded. One flooding washing machine is no big thing, but try dealing with thirty...
And how did that happen?
Enter Mr Clean, Mompracem's resident gorilla, known for his obsession with personal
cleanliness. He's often to be found on the beach, near a spring, or along a riverbank,
scrubbing his back with a sponge. Recently, he's been frequenting the laundry,
first to bring along a few items of underwear and light clothing...
A gorilla?
Yes, a gorilla, why?
Hmmm, well I don't know really... Anyway, on his last visit,
Mr Clean opened all thirty washing machines and dived into the torrent of soapsuds
and half-washed laundry. And if that wasn't enough, he put on all the sodden
clothes and paraded like a model on the very best catwalks of Paris.
So what did Yanez and Sandokan do about their slightly, well, strange visitor?
They brought a huge mirror, and just as the ape had donned some delicate pink
ladies' underwear, they held it up.
Mr Clean stood transfixed and utterly besotted by his own image. There was nothing
that could possibly distract him from the sight of himself in fluffy pink drawers.
And then they slowly walked back, holding up the mirror all the time and luring
the animal out of the laundry, all the way back to the middle of the jungle,
where they propped the mirror against a tree and quietly slipped away. Mr Clean
is probably still there, kissing and hugging his dearly beloved mirror.
Now that reminds Verdeluna of her kickboxing friend, Olivia.
Is she that hairy?
No, but she's a big girl, and like Mr Clean has something of an obsession with
cleanliness. She uses buckets of shower foam after their kickboxing sessions,
and scrapes her skin with all the strength that's in her with one of these very
rough, abrasive sponges.
It's a wonder that she has any skin left!
Now take Verdeluna's skin, however.
It's soft and delicate, and she looks after it with gentle soap and rehydrating
cream. And how does she go about applying those, inquires Sandokan, and how does
she rub her back? Would she be in need of assistance? Hmm?
Aah it's the Pirate's forbidden dream, or rather, just the beginning of his forbidden
dream...
Meanwhile, Olivia appears smitten by Tarzan, the converter of car wrecks into
dinosaurs. Verdeluna's worried because her Tyrolean friend is happily married...
But here they were the other day, Tarzan and the kickboxer, exchanging mobile
phone numbers and discovering, oh what a coincidence! that they had -exactly-
the same taste in literature. And then they had a meal at the Greek tavern together,
and she told Verdeluna in wildly enthusiastic tones about the auto artist. And
Verdeluna was already thinking about Olivia being divorced, and riding with her
new beau in his Ffolkswagen van in search of pleasure...
Come Verdeluna, you're getting a little carried away, and I even think you're
a little jealous.
Jealous, me?!?!
Verdeluna, I'm worried about Mr Clean, the gorilla.
We should find him a real companion so he can fall in love and live happily ever
after.
