| SUMMARY |
|
The
TV show features Kabir Bedi in one-to-one interviews with eminent
directors of Indian cinema.
It pays tribute to Bollywood's directors - those who give shape
to the Indian unique world of entertainment, while offering
much pleasure to the lives of movie lovers worldwide.
It tracks, in a sense, the long and interesting journeys some
of India's respected filmmakers have made, from obscurity
to hard-won admiration.
Directors’ Cut consists of four
segments.
First, a look at the filmmaker’s journey till
his first big break. This will include an AV of fictional recreation
of the filmmaker’s early days, interview with the director
on his initial days and his struggles. Who supported him? Who
turned him away? How much money did he have in his pocket when
he first came to this city of dreams? And, of course, some
inspirational tales too.
The second segment starts with the director’s first film and
then examines the rest of his works. The third segment will be an
up, close and personal look at the man behind the camera — the
director’s childhood, passions, role models, favourite childhood
game. Also sound bytes from family and school friends about how the
director was as a child. And finally the court martial which will
grill the filmmaker on things he’s been accused of.
There’ll be an actor coming in at the end who the director
has worked with and shaped or someone who is currently working in
his next film. |

Bedi receives high praise from MK Anand, the Vice President
and Business Head of Zoom TV in an article about the forthcoming
Indian TV chat show Director's Cut, published by exchange4media
today.
The TV show will premiere on Zoom TV on January 20, 2008
in the prime time slot of 20:00.
Kabir Bedi will interview eminent directors of Indian cinema
in one-on-one talks.
The Vice President said, that Kabir Bedi's presence on the
show will add authority: "Kabir Bedi is an eminent film
personality who is much respected globally. He has been a
jury member and host of many international film festivals.
He has, for years, cast his vote at the Oscars. Besides Bollywood,
he has worked in Hollywood and several European film industries."
MK Anand on the expectations from the show and from its host
Kabir Bedi: "The host of a show like ‘Director's
Cut’ is required to be warm and receptive, with the
ability to put filmmakers at ease while getting deeper insights
into the trials and tribulations of their past. Kabir Bedi
has more than met our expectations. The rapport he has managed
with all directors has led them to open up about their personal
and professional lives."
