| Kabir's
part |
|
Kabir and his daughter Pooja are one of three competing couples on
this gameshow
episode, a special one focusing on fathers and daughters instead
of husband-and-wife teams as usual.

| Kabir's
showstopper |
|
Kabir and his daughter Pooja are the first couple to emerge from the
wings.
In
one of the rounds Pooja and Kabir work together very smoothly,
as Pooja quickly guesses the title of a song that Kabir mimes out
to her. But then...
Accompanied by Pooja, Kabir launches
into a little "item number", which he does not do badly at
all!
Together with Pooja he gathers so many brownie points among the
studio audience, which is wildly clapping along, that the two jump
from a very weak start at zero points to take the
lead.
The presenter reminds the audience
that Kabir is actually the only non-dancing star in Bollywood.
In the round called Hum Saath Saath Hain, father and daughter have
to build columns from a pile of building blocks which
they have to manipulate while
holding each other by both hands. Excellent team work by Pooja
and Kabir means they complete the task with 10 seconds
still to spare!
Pooja talks at length about the time when she delivered her child,
with nine members of the family, including her parents
Kabir and Protima,
standing by her in the delivery
room. Kabir says
the "guests" were requested
by hospital staff to look away discreetly at the actual
moment of birth.
Pooja says she was very grateful for the experience of having the
previous generation present at the arrival of a new one.
In a later round called Bol-Boli-Bol, Kabir opts
for the so-called "Googly" option.
This means Pooja, wearing a blindfold, has to fish
at least six oranges out of a basket
with various kinds of fruit, while answering a number of questions.
Pooja
shines in this round also!
At the end Kabir and Pooja win the contest by a considerable margin
over the two
other couples... prompting Kabir to swirl around the stage once
more!
All the contestants are presented with a gift hamper, and the show
ends with hugs all round. |

| YUM! |
|
|
+ The
presenter maintains close control over the show and the candidates.
+
She seems to enjoy it just as much as the contestants.
+ How does Mona Singh down a high amount of Smarties in 60 seconds,
using only chopsticks?
+ A skill for life that everyone should learn: how to stack building
blocks into a column while holding hands with your dad. Ask Kabir and Pooja
how it's done!
+ Kabir's and Pooja's dance act would not look amiss in any Bollywood
hit!
+ Last but not least: Kabir swirls
around the stage in a deluge of confetti as the show
comes to an end. |

 |
| EEK! |
|
|
- Far
too light and trivial to leave a lasting impression.
-
Gameshows
may not be to everyone's taste at the best of times...
-
This show is no match for Amitabh Bachchan's
hugely popular KBC 2, which it replaces. The Indian version of
Who Wants To Be A Millionaire had to be pulled because
of Bachchan's illness.

|
 |
| IN
SHORT... |
|
|
Kabir turns
out to be a much better dancer than some people thought,
his blindfolded daughter Pooja sorts her oranges
with gay abandon, the pair stack their giant Lego
blocks into columns, and there is lots of fun for contestants
and audience alike! |

GENERAL INFORMATION |
• "Age
before beauty": Kabir and
Pooja talk in the show about their marriage dates:
Pooja wanted to get married in 1993 to her (ex-husband)
Farhaan. Her father Kabir objected
to that, as he wanted to marry his then girlfriend Nikki
in the very same year. He reasoned that both father and
daughter shouldn't get married in the same year. So he
requested Pooja to marry Farhaan a year later, in
1994.
• some
quotes from the TV show:
• Pooja's reply to Rakshanda Khan quoting the famous
Dhara advert ("My Daddy is the strongest"); "--My--
Daddy is the smartest!"
• Pooja: "From zero to hero, don't worry!"
• Competition question: "Pooja, which is one thing
that your daddy did teach you in school days?" - Kabir writes
down "scrabble",
Pooja writes "P-language" and explains what she means
by that: "Daddy
taught me to put an additional 'P' before the vowels of a word..." -
and she starts quickly to give an example of the artificial
children's language, prompting Kabir into
replying to her as quickly as she spoke herself in their unique
language..
• Competition question: "Kabir, at the age of 60 are
you still as conscious about your looks as a 25-30 year old
man?" - Pooja writes down: "Yes", and Kabir writes down: "No,
never!"
• Immediately, Pooja says to Kabir: "Of
course you are conscious about the way you look, Daddy. You
groom yourself, you spend ten minutes blow-drying your hair,
you still put bronzer on your face, you have like a whole wardrobe
filled with clothes..." • Rakshanda Khan to Pooja and Kabir, after the building
blocks game: "What
speed were you working at???"
• Pooja about her father's attractiveness: "[There is
almost no woman I meet] who doesn't look at me and says [ Pooja
alters her voice ]: 'Your father is so handsome!'"
• Pooja to Rakshanda Khan: "I don't believe in looking
at the past, Rakshanda, I do believe in looking forward. So
what, if it hasn't been hyped in the past, let's hype it now
and take it forward into the future. Let's change that!" [
