| INFORMATION -
QUICK BITS |
• The film was shot in
1972/73, but was not released in Indian cinemas until 1974.
•
After shooting was complete, the Indian film censors denied
it a permit for months, arguing it was 'pornographic'
and would undermine the institution of marriage. |

PEOPLE |
• Manzilein Aur
Bhi Hain is the very first film of director Mahesh
Bhatt, who was only 22 at the time.
• Mahesh Bhatt has been a friend of Kabir's
since the early seventies.
• In the early eighties, Mahesh Bhatt had a relationship
with movie star PARVEEN
BABI, who died in January 2005 and was Kabir's girlfriend in
the previous decade.
• Mahesh Bhatt also directed the thriller VISHWASGHAAT (1977),
in which Kabir also plays a
leading part.
• Mahesh Bhatt is married to the movie star Soni
Razdan, who plays Kabir's wife
in TAKE
3 GIRLS.
• Mahesh Bhatt began his career as an assistant to Raj
Khosla (1925-1991; his work includes Kabir's KUCHHE
DHAAGE 1973) and considers him one of his professional role
models.
•
Mahesh Bhatt is regarded in India
as a liberal director, and often runs into trouble
getting his
projects off the ground.
His film Zakhm (1998), a social drama which won several
awards, is set at the time
of
the
religious
unrest
in
Mumbai (1992/93) and was initially denied a permit. The censors, under pressure
from
right-wing
politicians, said it could fan further strife amongst India's various religious
communities.
• Mahesh Bhatt's biggest commercial success as a director
is Duplicate (1998), a comedy which did well on the international circuit,
with Juhi
Chawla and Sonali Bendre, as well as Shah Rukh Khan (see
pictures with Shah Rukh Khan in Kabir's MAIN HOON NA)
playing the double part of a chef and a bandit.
• This film marked Bhupendra Soni’s debut
as music director.
• Sudhir appeared also
in many other films starring Kabir,
among them RAKHI
AUR HATHKADI (1972), MERA
SHIKAAR (1988), ISHQ
ISHQ ISHQ (1974).
