• When Kabir flew
from India to Italy to audition for the lead in the first
Sandokan film, he had to pay for his own ticket.
• Sandokan
won the Spanish TP de Oro award in 1977, for the category
Mejor TV Serie Extranjera/Best Foreign TV Series.
•
A farmer in the Thuringia region of south-eastern Germany
made agricultural history by sowing a variety of wheat called 'Sandokan'.
• A real-life Sandokan is plying his trade as a fakir with Circus Trumpf
in Germany.
• No doubt inspired by the locale, an Austrian
racing
driver
said
Salgari's
Tiger
of
Malaysia was his role model on the track when he took part in a world championship
race in Sepang, Malaysia.
• At a more sedate pace, carnival revellers in the Italian
town
of
Acquasparta
made Sandokan
one of the themes of their floats in 2005: see picture

2005).
• The catchy tune 'Sandokan' was among the hits which delighted 6.500 Italian
fans at the first live concert (90 minutes) after 30 years of brothers Guido & Maurizio
De Angelis at the Comics & Music festival in Lucca on November 3, 2007.

Tigre e ancora viva.Sandokan alla riscossa! (1977).
• Many other cast members from the 1976 Sandokan did the same, including Philippe
Leroy, Adolfo Celi, Ganesh Kumar and John
S. H. Pettit.
• Pino Locchi was Kabir's
voice in the dubbed Italian soundtrack of the 1976 Sandokan,
as well as in La Tigre e ancora viva.Sandokan
alla riscossa! (1977).
Pino Locchi also spoke for Kabir in Il
Corsaro nero (1976), Ashanti (1979),
and The Thief of Baghdad (1978).
• Adolfo Celi (Lord Brooke), a very popular Sicilian actor
who made a name for himself internationally, died in 1986.
• Adolfo Celi was the unforgettable
villain
