»April
21, 2006 - Kabir to attend Italian commemoration
of Sandokan co-star Adolfo Celi
Kabir will travel to the Sicilian town of Messina to attend
a commemoration of his Italian co-star in the Sandokan series,
Adolfo Celi, Italian websites reported today (21 April 2006).
Kabir will be one of the speakers at the opening event in
Messina's Salone delle Bandiere (Flag Room) on Saturday,
April 22.
Also present at the meeting will be Italian producer Turi
Vasile and critic Giacomo Gambetti, according to one of the
reports on agenews.it.
It said event organiser Marco Olivieri will present his book
Adolfo Celi, Regista e Attore (Adolfo Celi, director and
actor).
Adolfo Celi had a pivotal part as Lord Brooke in Kabir's Sandokan TV mini-series in 1976.
The actor and director is still hugely popular in Italy today,
and a plaque to commemorate the 20th anniversary of his death
is being unveiled on Sunday, April 23, in the city's Via
Brescia, where he lived as a young boy.
Later that day, a street will be named after him.
Also part of the event is a showing of the film Adolfo Celi:
Un artista per due culture (Adolfo Celi: An artist for two
cultures) by Celi's son Leonardo, and an exhibition of Celi
photos which will remain open until May 13. |
