• Imtiaz Ali,
the son of filmmaker Muzaffar Ali, is making his debut
as a director with this film.
• Newcomer Abhay Deol is a member of an established Bollywood
family: he is Sunny and Bobby Deol's cousin. Socha Na Tha is being produced under
Sunny's home banner, Sunny Super Sounds. Abhay is the son of Kunwar Ajit Singh
Deol who is actor Dharmendra's brother.
• Abhay Deol studied acting at
Pasadena City College in Los Angeles.
• Ayesha Julka has a part in Sisir Mishra's forthcoming
movie Aaj Ka Paighaam, which is under production as of November 10, 2002.
• Ayesha Takia has appeared in the music video albums
of singer Phalguni Pathak.
• Sandhya Mridul has an honours degree in mathematics
from Lady Shriram College, Delhi and worked as an air hostess and manager with
KLM
before starting a television career which includes many serials. She is also
known from
her double role in Sony TV's Hubahu (2002).
• Sandhya Mridul stars alongside Kabir's son Adam Bedi
in Strings.
• Sandhya Mridul has a creative hobby: she writes Urdu
and Hindi poetry.
• Apoorva Jha has appeared in music videos of Anamika,
Gursewak Maan and Mehandi Hasan.

2002 - Socha Na Tha is launched.
»January 30, 2002 - The movie is one of
more than ten projects which are currently bening financed
by the Hinduja Group.
» February 22, 2002 - Mumbai model Dipannita Sharma and Ayeshka
Takia will join the cast.
»July 22, 2002 - Apoorva Jha, a model
from Delhi, talks about the film in which she has a role.
»July 24, 2002 - In an interview with
the Ludhania Tribune, Chandigarh, Apoorva Jha mentions that the
film's month-long shooting has recently been completed in Goa.
She adds the movie is scheduled to be released end of 2002.
»September 12, 2002 - Dipannita Sharma,
who plays the lead opposite Abhay Deol, has been dropped from
the film and Apoorva replaces her. All scenes featuring Dipannita
will have to be shot again. No reason nor comment is given for
the decision.
»September 25, 2002 - According to rumours
Dipannita Sharma was not in the lead but the second heroine of
the project.
»November 10, 2002 - Eight reels have
now been completed.
»December 5, 2002 - Apoorva Jha says in
an interview with Times of India that she did the preliminary
screen test for Socha na Tha in Delhi because a friend prompted
her to go. She got selected from among hundreds of other aspirants.
Next, she had to go through a nine-hour-long screen test in
Mumbai. She adds: "Socha Na
Tha is a triangular love story and I have had a great time shooting
for the film. She says: "While I was in the third year of
college, I was chosen to fly as an air hostess with Jet Airways." According
to Apoorva, shooting for Socha na Tha should be completed By
the end of December 2002 and the movie will be ready
for release in April 2003.
»April 12, 2003 - Still only eight
reels completed.
»May 22, 2003 - Indiafm
reports only 7, not 8, film reels ready.
»May 30, 2003 - Rediff.com reports, the
filming of Socha Na Tha has grinded to a halt, among other things,
there seem to be financial problems.
»Mid September 2004 - London
cinemas promote the movie, perhaps - worldwide - release soon.
»October 1, 2004 - However, indiafm lists
the movie as a project 'still under production', with only 7
reels completed. No changes in between the past months. The movie's
official homepage ist still offline.
»October 12, 2004 Bobby
Deol is supervising and executing the entire promotional campaign
for his cousin brother Abhay Deol's Socha Na Tha.
»November 2004 - 11 reels are now completed,
reports indiafm.com.
»November 4, 2004 - Socha Na Tha is scheduled
for release on December 17, 2004. Ayesha
Takia talks in an interview with glamsham.com about her part:
"It is a deglamorized role of a simple girl sans make-up witha
totally different look which will take everyone by surprise."
