Torello's honour as a man is at stake as his family members arrive from Brescia to pay his debts and save him from bankruptcy. Unwanted and unstoppable, they settle into the Torello household and even take over his funeral business. Sarita and Emilio are having a secret affair and manage to convince a young Indian couple not to have a selective abortion – a practice that is widespread in India even though it is illegal.

Maria is still having serious psychological problems, fails to submit her doctoral thesis on time, and gives up her medical studies. Poor Torello is at his northern relatives' beck and call. They order him around like a simple employee. Without Torello's knowledge, Cettina finds a job with his competitors, the funeral company of the Zinco brothers...

Annuccia is becoming an adult woman, and Maria advises her how to handle the new situation. Nonno Libero, too, gets involved with Annuccia's changes, even if not quite of his own free will. And what is Nonno Kabir buying so secretly in the pharmacy??? -
Emilio is furious with Sarita because she has stopped him from clearing the air with his fiancee Alba. He decides against Sarita. Alberto's father dies of cancer. Cettina organises the funeral, which turns into a song and dance festival – just as the dead man had wanted.

Tea organises a big party for her daughter's 18th birthday at restaurant Little India. Using the evening's takings, Saju and Ciccio invite their girlfriends Miranda and Vanessa for a romantic weekend. Luz the Brazilian takes a more pragmatic approach: in order to persuade Mariano to finally name the day, she offers him no way out and openly organises the wedding. This nearly gives Mariano's mamma a heart attack! Once more, it's up to Nonno Libero to calm things down...

A rumour does the rounds that Emilio has been told by his future father-in-law, who owns the clinic, to cut staff numbers. Sarita is bitterly disappointed: is her heart of hearts spying on the staff? How can she still trust him? Ciccio is annoyed. There isn't a single place anywhere where he can be alone with his girlfriend Miranda. The lovers abscond to a remote hunting lodge – finally they have a place of their own! But the rest of the family, not least Nonno Libero, are worried sick about Ciccio's disappearance and do everything they can to find him.

The doctors at the clinic hear that Emilio has fired himself to solve the staff cut problem. Sarita deeply regrets misreading his intentions. - At the birthday party of her friend, Maria rescues their common friend Boris after a cocaine overdose, and saves his life. Maria regains confidence in her own medical ability, which she had lost after her African ordeal.

Sarita has given her 'yes' to Emilio, but now Indian tradition requires the groom to pay a formal visit to the bride's family and ask for her hand in marriage. Emilio has found a new job as an emergency doctor. Emilio and his relatives take great pains to prepare themselves for the visit to the Dahvi family. When they all troop into the restaurant, full of excitement, Nonno Kabir fails to understand the purpose of their visit. And when Sarita explains, and Emilio makes his request, there is a nasty surprise for the young couple... Meanwhile, single mother Maura, the banker whose son is friends with Oscar's daughter, takes a liking to Oscar. They spend a lot of time together – to the chagrin of Oscar's friend Max, who is clearly jealous...

Nonno Kabir puts an advert on the Internet in an attempt to locate Ravi, who has been promised Sarita as a wife when they were both children. Nonno Kabir won't let go until he is absolutely sure Ravi no longer wants his promised bride. Maura falls ever more deeply in love with Oscar. Her advances force Oscar to come out of the closet and declare he is gay, living with his friend Max. To celebrate their wedding day, Nonno Libero has bought Enrica an exorbitantly expensive face powder. But because of a silly coincidence, Enrica never gets to hold the precious container – even if it seems otherwise. Just as she is about to use the powder, Libero stops her. The powder box in fact is a small urn from undertaker Torello, with contents... Quelle horreur for Enrica !

She may be a businesswoman at heart, but she wears that heart in the right place. Sarita makes a shocking discovery during a concert by visiting star Caterina Morelli (Carole André):

A misunderstanding gets Enrica so angry that she wants to divorce Nonno Libero. But a bewildered Nonna Enrica finds out she never properly married Nonno Libero – because of a bureaucratic mixup, the marriage isn't even valid! Quelle horreur for Enrica! - Meanwhile Cettina has to admit her romantic feelings for Sandokan-lookalike Kabir were an error of the heart. She has never stopped loving her Torello. Although finally willing to return to the conjugal home, she will face an unwelcome surprise! Sarita has some serious problems too – instead of giving her the document that releases her from her arranged betrothal, Ravi demands money from Sarita.
